Listening to Your Needs
Cancer Daily Horoscope

Your response to conflict today will likely be to acquiesce to the wishes of the people around you. In turning away from discord in this way, you may find yourself suffering because your needs are not being met. Consider that your dedication to interpersonal harmony is likely less important in the grand scheme of your life than your ability to pursue health and happiness. To guarantee your right to wellness today, you may need to assert yourself even when your needs are in opposition to the needs of others. If you are gentle in your assertiveness, it is unlikely that you will harm the important relationships in your life.

While agreeability can stave off conflict in our relationships, it is inevitable that we will find ourselves in situations where we have to exert our own needs in order to preserve our general well-being. When we are able to think and act assertively, we have little trouble doing what is necessary to see that we are able to create or adjust our circumstances to ensure we are happy and healthy. This is easiest when we recognize and accept that we may inadvertently hurt or anger the people we care about in the process of ensuring we can care for ourselves properly. In most cases, however, negative reactions will be short-lived, as those who care about us will realize we are better at loving those we care about when we are in a state of wellness. If you accept occasional discord as a fact of life today, you will be able to express your needs honestly and assertively.

DailyOM Course Spotlight

Master the Path of the Peaceful Warrior
by Dan Millman

Here is the course, and now is the time, to stretch your soul and strengthen your spirit with international bestselling author, and master coach, Dan Millman! Most of our lives are spent, in one form or another, in the pursuit of happiness. And we find it, too, in temporary forms - a new experience, relationship, purchase. Yet a lasting sense of fulfillment and satisfaction may continue to elude us as we learn what doesn't make us happy. Still, the dreams persist: "If only I'd gotten a college (or graduate) degree ... if only I had a soul-mate, or a better relationship (or career) ... if only I'd had children ... if only I hadn't had children ... if only I made more money or had a nicer home ... if only I traveled more ... " But even if we get those things, we continue to search. Join Dan in the most complete course in personal development you are likely to encounter, embracing every facet of personal growth. In the words of Henry David Thoreau, If you have built castles in ! the air, your work need not be lost. Now put foundations under them. The time is now. The Path is open. Your destiny awaits!
