Cancer Horoscope: Dreaming About New Places

Dreaming About New Places

December 31, 2019

You may feel like going someplace exotic in order to escape your daily routine today. This sense of longing could be due to a desire to change your life by doing something exciting. Today you might let your daydreams coax you into incorporating new changes into your life. You could consider planning a trip to a faraway place or reading a travel adventure about an out of the ordinary locale. Allow yourself to open up to the ideas and experiences of learning about a different way of life. Consider the things from other cultures that could add value to your current situation. You may notice that when you indulge your longings by learning new ideas, your life contains an unlimited amount of excitement.

Contemplating getting away from our routine helps us find new ideas we can integrate into our current life. Our yearning to seek out new places stems from the need to take a step outside of ourselves. We can become so wrapped up in our usual habits that after a while they may seem stale and monotonous. But by either planning or contemplating travel, we can become more aware of our need to change some aspect of our life. We learn that there is so much more to life than we imagined. Our lives gain a new momentum the moment we decide to see new worlds, regardless of whether or not we physically act on this urge. By dreaming about foreign lands today, you will infuse your life with new and stimulating experiences.

New Year, New Start

New Year, New Start

by Madisyn Taylor

Viewing the start of the coming year as a time of rebirth allows you to focus on what you want to accomplish.

To many, the coming of a new year represents an opportunity to begin again. It is a time to step off of dead-end paths in order to create a fork in the road, disassociating from the old, and aligning with fresh possibilities. Harnessing the power of this transformative energy is a matter of truly believing that resolutions can conquer past patterns. If we believe we are capable of changing our lives, we are more apt to believe that we are capable of leaving our mistakes behind. Our dedication, which might otherwise falter, is buoyed by hope. Thus, the beginning of the new year is traditionally a popular time to tackle difficult tasks such as quitting smoking, losing weight, or fulfilling worldly ambitions. But the transition from year to year can also be an opportune occasion to pursue emotional, spiritual, and intellectual growth because we no longer feel burdened by regret and disappointment.

Whatever your reality, it is within your power to create the fork that allows you to walk a more conscious, grounded path. Viewing the start of the coming year as a time of rebirth allows you to focus on what you want to accomplish in the coming weeks, months, and years. Because you are a new person--in other words, a clean slate--you are free to immerse yourself in new experiences with impunity. If you feel a need to reconnect with your spirituality, consider taking up yoga, meditation, or another discipline that challenges both your mental and physical selves. Fill your newly-cleansed mind with stimulating knowledge, poignant wisdom, and useful skills. Clearing your home or workspace of clutter can improve the flow of energy in your life, giving you the momentum you need to stay true to your resolutions. And beginning a fresh journal can be a wonderful way to celebrate these developing aspects of your life.

In the ancient Babylonian, Chinese, and Celtic traditions, the period marking the transition from the old year to the new was viewed as a struggle between chaos and order, in which order always prevailed. Your belief that you, too, can banish chaos and integrate your dreams, desires, and goals more fully into your life will give you the determination and fortitude to change your life for the better.

Cancer Horoscope: Natural Wonder

Natural Wonder

December 30, 2019

You may feel a sense of wonder today. You may find yourself pondering the mysteries of life with a sense of awe and respect, and this could enhance your feeling of interconnectedness with the universe. If you can set aside some time to immerse yourself in these feelings, you will lend a heightened sense of awareness to every moment. You may want to find a quiet place in a natural setting such as a park or forest where you can be at peace today. Then, simply sit back and open your senses to the beauty around you. As you listen to the birds sing and the breeze sigh through the trees, focus on absorbing the soothing peacefulness of nature and embrace the knowledge that you are attuned to the rhythms of the world around you.

Immersing ourselves in quiet moments of awe lends a new depth of richness and meaning to our existence. Setting aside time to fully engage with the natural world around us can help us escape the noise and busyness of our lives and open our minds to a sense of wonderment. Absorbing the peacefulness of nature helps awaken our spiritual selves, as we see that we are connected on a spiritual level with all living things. Our lives then take on a new sense of richness and meaning that enhances every experience. Your sense of wonderment could enrich your life if you take time to fully immerse yourself in the world around you today.

Things We Can't Control

Things We Can't Control

by Madisyn Taylor

We develop grace as we learn, with the guiding hand of the universe, life will unfold exactly the way it should.

The idea of trusting the universe is a popular one these days, but many of us don't know what this really means and we often have a hard time doing it. This is partly because the story of humankind is most often presented as a story about struggle, control, and survival, instead of one of trust and collaboration with the universe. Yet, in truth, we need to adhere to both ideas in this life.

On the one hand, there is much to be said about exerting control over our environment. We created shelter to protect ourselves from the elements. We hunted for animals and invented agriculture to feed ourselves. We built social infrastructures to protect ourselves and create community. This is how we survive and grow as a civilization. However, it is also clear that there are plenty of things that we cannot control, no matter how hard we try, and we often receive support from an unseen force – a universe that provides us with what we cannot provide for ourselves.

It is a good idea to take responsibility for the things in life that we can control or create. We work so we can feed, clothe, and shelter our loved ones and ourselves. We manifest our dreams and visions in physical form with hard work and forethought. But at a certain point, when we have done all that we can, we must let go and allow the universe to take over. This requires trust. It requires a trust that runs deeper than just expecting things to turn out the way we want them to. Sometimes they will, and sometimes they won't. We develop equanimity and grace as we learn to trust that, with the guiding hand of the universe, life will unfold exactly the way it should. We are engaged in an ongoing relationship with a universe that responds to our thoughts and actions.
