Realistic Goals

Winning the lottery is NOT a good example of a realistic goal. Choose goals where YOU are in charge of making it happen.

Life Areas

  • Personal Growth
  • Career and Finances
  • Health and Fitness
  • Relationships and Family
  • Creativity
  • Spirituality

Imagine 3 to 5 possible goals from the life areas above. Choose one goal from that list and write it down:

    My Goal:

    EX: Buy a new car

Now imagine all the thoughts, ideas, facts and beliefs you have about this goal. What is possible and what is impossible? What is positive and negative? What feels good, what feels bad? What stops you?

Take a few minutes, and write all of your thoughts and beliefs about this goal.

    Example:

My Goal: Buy a new car

My Thoughts and Beliefs: not enough money, don't deserve it, can't afford it, my credit is bad, they will never approve a loan, it would be nice, my kids would be happy, spouse may be upset.

Take note of where you feel a lack of power, freedom, or full self-expression. Note any thoughts that cause unpleasant feelings. Write them down.

    The Goal Reaching Process

People who are successful in setting and reaching their goals apply the characteristics of a well formed outcome.

    Positive and Clear

One of the first steps in manifesting what you want is to "get clear" about what you want, and to state it in the positive. However, often people state what they do NOT want.

I do NOT want to work here.

Your subconscious ignores the word NOT. When you have a thought such as "I do NOT want to be sad" your subconscious understands this to mean "I want to be sad." And then your subconscious goes to work to 'act' on this suggestion, and find ways to bring it into reality.
Focus on what you DO want. This programs your subconscious mind to take action and bring what you want into reality.

I DO want to work in a fun career.

    Specific and Measurable

Make the goal 'measurable'. How will you know when you reach it?

    Goal: I want more money.

Having one more penny fulfills this goal.

Goal: I want my income to increase by $1000/month.

    This is specific, and measurable.

    Timed and Realistic

How long will it take to manifest this goal? Set a time, be specific. But also, be realistic.

    Self-Achievable

Make sure the goal is something that you can achieve, on your own, and does not rely on others behaving a certain way.

Using Your Imagination to Activate Your Subconscious Mind

Reaching your outcome is a function of how vividly you can see, hear and feel the experience.

Begin to experience your goal as if it has already occurred and is a done deal.
