You could find your mind wandering in conversations with those close to you today, and this may make you seem preoccupied and inattentive. It may be that you are thinking about something in the future or in the past that may have you worried. As a result, you might notice yourself tuning others out. Perhaps you can be more conscientious about the ways your thoughts stray by using your breath to anchor you in the flow of your interactions. Should your mind go off on a tangent, simply take a deep breath and give yourself a gentle reminder such as, "I am here." Putting yourself squarely in the present through your breath today could not only keep you focused on what is happening around you but might also put your mind more at ease.

Our breath gives our minds a point of concentration so that we can pay greater attention to what is happening in our lives. When our minds wander it is often because we have some sort of anxiety that takes us out of the moment. This is not only disrespectful to the people we are interacting with but it also puts us in an uncomfortable mental state; instead of really enjoying the company of others we are worrying about something that has happened already or that may or may not happen. Using your breath to keep you grounded in the present will make it easier for you to be fully attentive to the thoughts, ideas, and needs of others today.
