DailyOM: Briefly tell us what adrenal fatigue is and what somebody might feel like if they are suffering from it.
Jannine: Adrenal fatigue is the state your body ends up in when you have been pushing yourself too hard for too long. Living off of adrenaline and stress hormones while not taking time to recover or recharge is detrimental to your health, and the feeling of adrenal fatigue can be mild to severe and includes four different stages.
The most common symptoms include feeling chronically tired and run-down no matter how much you sleep, an inability to focus, a low tolerance to sound and bright lights, sleep disturbances, feeling tired yet wired at night, or wanting to sleep all the time. Other symptoms can be that stimulants don't work like they used to, you have low immunity and get sick more frequently, and you feel overwhelmed with day-to-day responsibilities.
DailyOM: What do you cover in this course?
Jannine: Within this course, I cover not just daily self-care practices, nutrition, exercise, and natural supplements that someone needs to heal, but also delve deeply into the heart and soul of healing from adrenal fatigue. Every two weeks, the focus shifts to what I consider to be the most important aspects that are required for healing.
The first two weeks are all about self-care and bringing the body back into a state of restoration and health. Within these two weeks we cover the most effective healing diet, including foods for breakfast, lunch, dinner, healing herbal teas, and natural supplements. We start a movement practice in the second week, with workout videos that gently guide you through training your body systematically without exhausting your energy reserves too much.
I'm very specific in these videos, guiding all levels of adrenal fatigue to the appropriate intensities and showing variations of different moves. This first set of videos focuses on cultivating energy within your body, mind, heart, and life. Before healing can begin, energy needs to be restored. Integrating the lessons of these first two weeks is very important because the biggest contributor to adrenal fatigue is a breakdown in well-being and self-care.
The following weeks are about healing your mind, looking at ways of thinking that exhaust energy reserves and create mental blocks to health. We take a deep dive into the most important aspects within your mental body that need to shift in order to create a personal breakthrough. Three new videos focus on cultivating strength within your body, mind, heart, and life.
The last two weeks are all about healing your life for a big, beautiful transformation and reinvention of self, one that is in alignment with your more authentic self that is trying to emerge. We also create a vision board. It's important to have a vision of who you deeply desire to be within this lifetime.
DailyOM: What can a potential student do if they feel so tired that they can't work out at all?
Jannine: The diet and inner practices will serve them immensely. They can do the best they can with these tools, and when they are feeling stronger, slowly incorporate the videos, starting with the stretch-and-tone series found in weeks five and six. These are the gentlest videos to start with, and once the student is feeling stronger, they can start at the beginning with weeks one and two.
DailyOM: Please share some feedback you have received from students taking this course.
Jannine: All the feedback so far has been really positive and powerful! Many appreciate that the course focuses on all aspects of the body, mind, heart, and life, and that it integrates the healing journey with the power of the soul.
A lot of women that I work with who have these issues also find themselves engaging in people-pleasing, have poor boundaries, and tend to put other people's needs before theirs, so I've had lots of feedback on how this course has helped them shift those ways of being that really sabotage their ability to practice self-care.
DailyOM: As students move forward after completing the course, should they repeat the eight weeks from the start? What do you suggest?
Jannine: I would definitely suggest repeating the course a few times. There is a lot of information to truly process, and the workouts are designed to stay challenging. I have anticipated this and detailed how to follow up in the last lesson.
DailyOM: If you could offer one tip today to our readers, what would it be?
Jannine: My one tip is if you learn the lesson, it becomes a blessing. Adrenal fatigue has been one of my greatest, most humbling teachers, and once I started the inner shift of how I was holding the world and myself in old ways of being that really didn't serve, I started to open up to a rebirthing process and deep healing that I could have never anticipated.
I'm so glad I listened to my body, slowed down, and learned to surrender to the process that was unfolding before me. I'm happy to share my great gift in this course, and I hope your readers will begin their own journeys with me.
DailyOM: We know this course will help a lot of people who are suffering from adrenal fatigue. It's packed with useful and important information that will not only replenish your body but nourish your soul, too! Until next time, be well.
