Your desire to help those less fortunate than you might compel you to be generous and philanthropic today. Giving to others when you have so much may be a way for you to let the universe know just how much you truly appreciate the gifts you have received. In order to give fully and selflessly today, however, you might imagine that instead of you being the one to share your abundance with another person, you are actually the one who should be grateful for the other person is opening up their heart and allowing you in. Seeing your service in whatever form it may take in this way might help you realize that altruism is something that is actually an equal exchange of energy between those who receive and those who give.

When others let us share our time, energy, or resources with them, they are also giving to us. It is easy to think of our acts of charity or selfless service as being one way -- we give and others receive. In reality, we can only give if someone else is willing to let us -- they have to give us their offering of trust and confidence in order to let us help them. Once we realize that generosity is a two-way street, we will find so much more meaning in our acts. Remembering that by giving to others you are also allowing them to give to you today will make the things that you do meaningful both to you and the people you help.
