You might want to puff out your chest with pride today, because of a feeling of dependability. Your urge may be to put your work duties in front of your personal needs in order to be responsible. This is admirable, and is a valid reason to be pleased. But also keep in mind that responsibility is the ability to respond well to a situation, and we are able to do that when we balance all areas of our lives. In order to have energy to take care of others and our duties, we also need to take time to rest, renew, and recharge. Today is a good day to do what needs to be done, so that we may allow ourselves to enjoy the rich rewards of personal time.

Even when our work is a labor of love and provides its own rewards, we must allow for time and space to breathe. People who are overtired become overwhelmed, irritable, and their responses become compromised. No one can continue to give from diminishing stores. To be truly dependable, our first duty must be to ourselves. When we are clearheaded, our judgment is better and we can make more reliable decisions about when to work, when to rest, and when to play. We can dedicate ourselves to being our best today, so that people truly can depend upon us, both right now and long into the future.
