The habitual nature of your work routine could leave you feeling bored and less energetic today, and doing the same thing over and over might make it seem as if there is nothing new or exciting happening in your life. While the sameness of your routine may seem draining, this may actually provide you with a wonderful opportunity to bring a greater sense of awareness to your life, for you do not have to worry about learning or doing something different. As you go about your everyday tasks today, try periodically to focus on the nature of your breath -- the length, location and duration of each inhalation-exhalation cycle -- and notice the thoughts that you have and their effect on the type of breath that you take. Paying attention to your breath in this way can not only help you become more self-aware, but it may also help you see that nothing in life truly is the same.

Consciously watching our breath infuses our tasks with a new level of awareness. When day in and day out everything seems to be the same, it is not surprising that we feel like a record that is stuck in the same groove. Our breath, however, holds the key to understanding that the nature of our lives and of our selves is perpetual motion -- nothing truly remains constant. By observing the nature of your breath you will recognize the variety that exists in your life as well as bring fresh and invigorating energy into your entire being today.
