Happy Sunday. Today I bring you an interview I conducted with Krishanti Wahla about her course Reinvent Your Self-Image. Madisyn Taylor: What do you mean by "reinvent your self-image"?
Krishanti Wahla: We all have our own self-image, an internal perception of who we are. This image is encrypted with emotions and energy that we unknowingly project into the world. Since energy and vibration resonate, the self-image we carry attracts certain experiences and people into our lives, ultimately setting the tone for how we experience life. Many of us are not satisfied or pleased with our self-image because in most cases it was not formed intentionally. Instead, it was shaped by situations we experienced and people we encountered at a young, impressionable age. Fortunately, energy is easy to work with! Once we become aware of our self-image, we can shift, transform, and essentially re-invent it. This transition brings us more into alignment with our true spirit, liberating us from the ego and freeing us to be who we really want to be. This change occurs at a very deep, core level. Reinventing your self-image can transform your life.
MT: This course approaches reinventing your self-image from an energetic point of view. Explain what energy has to do with your self-image.
KW: You know the saying, "The body is the temple for the spirit"? Our spirit is pure energy that inhabits our earthly bodies. When we take the time to connect and become intimately acquainted with the spirit within, and honor it, we can, in essence, ground into it. By grounding into the energy of our spirit, and healing the parts of ourselves that need attention, we can transform the way we think about ourselves, which in turn transforms the way the world and people respond to us. It's all energy really, and the energy that you radiate internally and externally shines through the temple of your physical body. This course, which is chock-full of energy healings and exercises to help you connect with your true essence and vibration, leads you onto the path of healing your self-image so that your self-perception is more whole, complete, and in alignment with the very core of who you are at the soul level. When you heal at this level, your external appearance also heals and matches that vibration as well.
MT: Why do we hang on to an image of us as a child or young adult? Why does this follow us through life?
KW: When we are young, we're impressionable. Through our life experience, we form energetic imprints that turn into energy patterns, beliefs, and feelings that, like records, we play over and over. We don't really know any other way to be, and so we play these records throughout our lives. For example, I've worked with many clients and students who feel physically unattractive because when they were young, they were told they were unattractive, either by kids at school or by family, or both. So this feeling of being unattractive gets locked in and creates a belief that causes them to feel unwanted, unlovable, and flawed. That energy gets imprinted into their self-image, which in turn attracts more experiences and patterns that reaffirm their beliefs. The same goes for a variety of emotions and beliefs, including feelings of not being good enough, not being able to achieve, etc. The list goes on. It's not until they look at these feelings--coded with patterns of energetic information--that they can begin to shift. The great news is all it takes is a good look at energy in order for it to change and heal. In physics, they call this the "observer effect." It's the theory that observing a particle of energy or a situation changes it. This approach can be applied to your self-image and can help you transform in ways you may have never imagined!
MT: In the course you talk about how people tend to keep themselves small and why it is important to discover the reasons and ways we do this. Personally, I feel this is very key in most people's spiritual development. Please explain to my readers what you mean by "keeping yourself small."
KW: Throughout the history of humankind, belonging has been very important to human beings. We have an almost instinctual need to fit in, to be part of a pack, in order to survive. Being too loud, too strong, too opinionated, or wildly different from others has largely been a path to danger. And while things have certainly changed over time, there is still an enormous emphasis on conformity. Many of us feel that if we shine too brightly or act too radically, we'll face recrimination. People will talk or, worse, shut us down. As a result, we're inclined to keep ourselves small. It's an issue of preserving mental and emotional safety. Don't make waves, don't be too different, don't follow your wildest dreams, and don't stray too far from the pack.
I've worked with many people who have encountered huge blocks in their life because they've been intent upon keeping themselves small for the sake of their family, friends, or coworkers. What would happen if they did something dramatically different, went off the beaten path, were bold and daring and unconventional? What would happen if they cultivated a deep sense of self-love, healed their self-esteem, and became happier? For many, making life-altering changes is highly uncomfortable, so it's easier to either not pursue dreams at all or subconsciously create blocks to experiencing what they want in life. Discovering the ways you keep yourself small and hold yourself back, is the first step toward realizing what you want in life. Once you identify how you're keeping yourself small, you can look at why you're doing this, and then make the changes you need to make in order to start living a life you love.
MT: Tell me about some feedback you have received from students.
KW: What I hear most is how students love the guided energy-healing meditations. Another piece of feedback I receive often is that people feel empowered to make positive lifestyle changes by following the program; some embark on new diet and exercise programs, others reboot their wardrobe, some report a renewed and refreshed approach to dating, and many finish creative projects they've been putting off. The most rewarding thing I hear is when students report quantum leaps related to developing a deeper sense of self-love and a healthy self-image that radiates from the inside out as a result of taking the course.
MT: Tell me about some of the homework you offer.
KW: The homework in the course essentially guides you through doing a makeover from the inside out. It includes guided meditations that are essentially energy healings, as well as written exercises to help you gain perspective while allowing yourself to gently create changes you're subconsciously longing to make. And then there are fun exercises, like finding new music, changing your routine, clearing your home and wardrobe...and creating a new outer self-image that reflects your transformed inner self-image! The processes emerged through my years of intuitive counseling, working one-on-one with people from all walks of life, from all over the world, to help them heal, transform, and evolve.
MT: Once students have completed the four-week course, how can they maintain what they have learned?
KW: All the healing meditations in the course can be listened to again and again. In fact, many students have said they listen to them to relax! The meditations are a great way to step back and reassess and/or to simply maintain your momentum. The most exciting thing about the concept behind this program is that your self-image is always changing and evolving! So whenever you feel a block or resistance, simply go back to one of the processes that really resonated with you and do the exercise. Some of the techniques are very gentle, and some are very powerful, but they can all be applied to any area in which you are feeling resistance or if you feel you need more help. If you are ready to peel another layer, apply some of the core concepts presented, and they will guide you through it. The key is to remember that it's an evolving process, which is very liberating.
MT: What do you hope people get out of this course?
KW: My deepest wish is that people who take this course cultivate a powerful, genuine, unshakable love for themselves; for all that they are, on every level--past, present, and future, inside, and out. That they allow themselves to release any and all outdated versions of themselves and truly shine as the radiant, vibrant beings they are. We can transform at any age, at any time, and it doesn't have to be difficult; in fact, it can be blissfully exciting and fun!
