You might have a strong desire to achieve your objectives, which may make you more productive today. Perhaps you feel that by being diligent you will be able to accomplish more of your goals and have a greater level of satisfaction and pride in your work. Perhaps you can break down your objectives into manageable tasks and then take time to look back on what you have achieved periodically throughout the day. As you reflect on what you have done, you might also give yourself a mental pat on your back, letting yourself validate the hard work that you have done. Doing this could keep you motivated to continue to get everything done today, since you can see how much you are able to do in a small amount of time.

It is important for us to make the effort to recognize what we have accomplished. Sometimes we might be motivated to work because of the praise we get from other people--such validation often keeps us going. Learning to do this for ourselves, however, means that we are not dependent upon someone else to bolster our feelings about our work, and we are instead able to see the worth of our work ourselves. Each task we complete will make us feel that our contributions have value in and of themselves. By setting realistic and attainable goals today, you will not only realize how much you can achieve, but you will also feel a greater sense of pride in the work you do.
