You might feel forgetful which may make you inattentive and unmindful today. This propensity to be distracted could be the result of your daydreams about things that aren't relevant to your present situation. While it is always fun to engage in flights of the imagination every once in a while, there are times when it is necessary to remain grounded in the present. Perhaps today you can make an effort to notice where your thoughts lie. If, for example, you are worrying about something that hasn't happened yet, you can gently breathe and say to yourself, 'future thought'. Labeling the types of thoughts you have could help you not only to see where your whims take you but can also bring you back into the present in order to focus on the tasks at hand.

When we are preoccupied it is often because our minds are in a time frame other than the present. So many of our worries tend to pull us away from what we are doing and take us away from being in the here and now. Once we recognize this, however, we can use both our breath and a simple mental reminder to come back to the moment. Trying this just a few times during the day will then train us to focus whenever our thoughts pull us away from what we are doing. Staying focused on the present will help you to pay close attention to and become more mindful of yourself and your work today.
