A sense that you would do well to approach others cautiously today can interfere with your ability to effectively collaborate or compromise with your coworkers and loved ones. You may feel that your inability to trust people means that they have dishonest intentions. And since you may feel uncomfortable while interacting with others, you may be tempted to hide your true thoughts and feelings behind small talk. You can better serve yourself, however, by making an effort to say what is on your mind and freely share information with others. While you may still be careful about revealing personal information today, your openness can help you learn more about the intentions of others and their reasons for thinking and acting as they do.
In opening up to the individuals we must work and interact with on a daily basis, we inspire them to do the same, making it easy for us to ascertain their underlying intent. Though we may save ourselves a minute amount of strife by acting guardedly with certain people, we may deny ourselves the opportunity to form a useful and rewarding connection in the process. Human beings naturally find unreserved communication enjoyable and engaging, so we learn much about our peers by simply speaking candidly and encouraging them to do the same. We create a situation in which others feel at ease truthfully discussing their motives. The sincerity and unconditional frankness with which you interact with others today will afford you an opportunity to truly understand your peers.
