We all have an idea of a timeline for our love life, and it almost never works out the way we imagine. Dear Friends,
It is a universal feeling to want to be in love with somebody. There are so many issues that arise within us during the process of being single, of dating, and then of questioning whether our soul mate is just that. At DailyOM we wanted to explore this and help people release what no longer serves them so they can find love from a healthy and secure place. Today I'm interviewing Stephanie Dodds who has written our course Heartbreak to Soulmate with the Magic of Tapping. Please read on for insightful information about this course!
Course OverviewRegardless of where you are now or your past relationship experiences, it's important to know that you can find your kindred spirit, soulmate, or whatever you prefer to call someone with whom you have a deep, meaningful connection. It is also possible to go on the journey of meeting that person without fear or other limiting beliefs so that when you find them, they can know the real you and you are ready to accept them, too. In this course, you'll learn how to identify and eliminate any negative emotional or physical barriers that are in your way, using a powerful tool called EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). Through this transformative process, you will tap away what has been blocking you and be ready to experience and embrace the mutual understanding, love, and partnership you deserve.

Interview With Stephanie Dodds Madisyn Taylor: This course uses EFT tapping, which is also known as emotional freedom technique. For readers who aren't familiar, EFT is a simple and easy-to-learn tool in which a student taps with two fingers on specific meridian points on the upper body. By tapping on these points while thinking about what frightens them, the student can release blocks. Stephanie, how can EFT help people who are looking for love?
Stephanie Dodds: If the process of finding love has created suffering, chances are we have some strong feelings about it. These feelings and inner dialogue may be blocking what you seek. As an example, if someone is frustrated because they have been on 20 dates with no positive outcome, they may be bringing this frustration to their next date and have it in their energy field. So if we are able to "tap" down the emotional frustration charge, we can show up on our date being more open-minded, with good energy, and not feeling distracted by our past. This is a more attractive place to be and will allow you to enjoy the process.
MT: I think lesson two is particularly important. In it you help students that have the feeling, "It should have worked out by now." Meaning, people often think that it is too late for them to find lasting love or that there are no good partners left out there. Tell us a bit about this lesson.
SD: This lesson is in the beginning of the course intentionally as I hear "It should have worked out by now" from people of all ages -- 16 to 90! Most people believe it is too late for them because things have not worked out the way they thought. We all have an idea of a timeline for our life, and it almost never works out the way we imagine. This is a very powerful lesson, and an empowering reframe is, "I trust the timing of the universe." If we are able to tap away "too late for me," we can prevent bringing victim energy into our new relationship.
MT: The course deals with our subconscious beliefs. How do we end up with these in the first place?
SD: Most of our core beliefs are imprinted by age seven. Some are empowering and helpful, and some are not. When we are children, if something bad happens we make a decision in that moment, which turns into a core belief. For example, if I am four years old and my parents get a divorce, I may decide that the world is bad or that I am bad. I may also feel that I'm unlovable, that I must have done something to cause the divorce, or that love causes pain -- why else would this have happened? Kids do their best to make sense of the world and how it works, so this is a very logical assumption. When we grow up, no matter how many self-help books we read, we may still feel that we are unlovable -- a limiting belief. Of course, this isn't true, but the belief feels very real to the subconscious mind.
MT: Lesson eight is titled "Fear I Will Never Find Someone," which is a very common feeling in our society. How can tapping help students release this fear?
SD: We always want to tap on our symptoms, so when we tap on fear of any kind, we want to acknowledge it: "Even though I have this fear, it is completely understandable that I feel this way." All of our emotions have purpose, even fear. We have a fear/stress response in place so that when we are running from a tiger, our body tells us it is time to run! When we fear that we will never find someone, that message is also trying to save our lives. When we talk and tap, we communicate with the brain and send it the message, "I am okay, it is safe for me to relax." And then we can reframe the message: "I could actually meet the love of my life at the grocery store today!"
MT: Walk me through your process of tapping.
SD: EFT is useful when we have a "problem" or perceived problem. Basically, tapping begins with the setup statement: "Even though I have this problem, I still deeply love and completely accept myself." This is said while the student taps on the karate chop point on the hand (a diagram is provided in the lesson). This setup statement quickly aligns the student so that they are allies with themselves. From there they tap through the meridian points on the upper body, stimulating them all quickly, tapping and speaking to what is "wrong" -- for example, this fear, this pain, all this emotion that they are trying not to feel. The idea is that these feelings are right under the surface and that they will persist if they remain unacknowledged and are not released. Emotions equal energy in motion. All emotions have a purpose -- they become a problem when it doesn't feel safe to express them. So essentially, we are creating a safe, gentle, and even fun environment in which to release them.
MT: This course brings a student through quite a journey: from expectations, rejection, letting go of past relationships, and the walls we put up to the excuses we make and even making space for love. What will the journey look like for a student taking this course?
SD: I have designed this course to clear out every possible conscious or subconscious block that may be holding you back, and it is absolutely a journey. We may think we know what our "issue" is, but that is not necessarily the case. We will go through three cycles in this course: clearing out limiting beliefs (we may or may not know are there), focusing on forgiving ourselves for any part we may have played in keeping true love away, and then we get to have some fun with positive affirmations and stepping into the frequency of love.
MT: Tell me some of the feedback you have received from students who have taken this course.
SD: Students have shared with me that they are surprised how fast EFT helps them to feel better, especially in regards to letting go of past suffering that's related to an old relationship. By releasing this pain, they feel free to move forward without self-doubt and full of hope. Often I need to remind them of how far they have come -- EFT works so well that they can't remember why they were upset in the first place!

Thank you, Stephanie, for taking the time to talk with me today. I have seen wonderful results when people use EFT in their lives. Sometimes we work so hard on healing ourselves that we just need to clear the last remnants of pain. This course helps us do just that.
Be well,
