The following is an excerpt from the "Develop Your Psychic and Intuitive Ability" on-line course. If you would like to enroll in the course, click here.
For many years I went to psychics, channels, and intuitives as they are now also called, to get a handle on things. Sometimes I was feeling stuck and needed answers, and sometimes I just wanted to hear I was going to be OK. I admired the special abilities of my advisors, and leaned on them for advice and assistance. But my mistake was in assuming I could never have access to the information they did. By doing so I left my own potential for insight undeveloped.
What if you have innate intuitive ability - all the equipment you need - and only need to find the on button?
One day I went to someone who channels a group of beings she just calls "The Guys", and the first thing The Guys told me was that I was psychic. I thought they either had me confused with someone else, or they said that to everyone. I wasn't psychic, I went to psychics. But they kept insisting that I was psychic. Their exact words were, "It's as if you have a whole room full of equipment, the best stuff available, and none of it is turned on".
That got my attention, because I really do love equipment! And the idea that I could be psychic was tantalizing. Wouldn't it be great to see what was going to happen ahead of time, always know the right decisions to make, and best of all, know things about other people that they themselves didn't know? Why, that might make me quite popular, I fantasized. Hmm But I knew I couldn't do those things. I had trouble remembering what happened yesterday, much less knowing what would happen tomorrow. Second-guessing my decisions was a way of life. And the only things I knew about other people was what they told me. And yet, I was willing to entertain the idea that perhaps it was as they said: I had the equipment, I just wasn't using it. What if I had innate intuitive ability, and only needed to find the "on" button? I decided to find out
and I ran into a brick wall. How do you learn to be intuitive? Most psychics say they've always had their gift, or one day it just "happened to them". When it comes to teaching someone else, they generally can't, because they don't know how they actually do what they do. It all comes quite naturally to them, and it's hard to teach what one has never had to learn.
If I was going to solve the puzzle of how to become psychic, I'd have to find the pieces and put them together for myself. So I dug in, and began learning things from lots of different sources. I talked to healers and intuitives of various shapes and sizes, I read books, I listened to tapes by different teachers, and I tried the exercises they suggested. But the teachers seemed to assume I'd be able to just follow the instructions and have the kind of break-through experiences they had. If only! When I tried to "see" something, or receive information, I usually drew a blank. "What's wrong with me," I wondered. But I kept working at it, and every now and then I'd get a glimmersome indication that if I'd only keep at it long enough I could locate that equipment and get it working. And eventually that's what happened. Little by little I came to understand that I do have the same equipmentand in fact everyone has more or less the same equipmentthat great psychics have. The biggest difference is that great psychics don't seem to have any impediments to using it. It's the stuff in the way that keeps the rest of us from using our gifts, and the more I was able to identify that stuff and get it out of the way, and the more I practiced, the more intuitive I became.
At some point during all that exploration and practice it occurred to me that what I was learning was meant to be shared. And so I took my experience and developed this program to help you systematically get your own stuff out of the way, and get lots of practice using your intuition. If you do, you'll discover that you are surprisingly intuitive. In other words, you'll learn to locate your equipment, find the on button, and start using it!
WHAT'S IN THE WAY OF YOU BEING MORE INTUITIVE?
Concerning the "stuff in the way", it's best that you know more about it now, so you'll understand what you may be up against. And so, without further ado, here are the top 10 reasons you may not already be as intuitive as you'd like. (You can overcome all of these, by the way.)
1) The Intellect. The number one cause of lack of intuition is thinking, because you can't think and be intuitive at the same timeit's physically impossible. Thinking is by and large processing information we already have. Intuition is bringing in new information. The intellect, or the part that thinks, likes to pretend it knows everything, and unfortunately tends to hog the stage. Have you ever noticed that you often solve difficult problems after you stop thinking about them, and the answer just "comes to you"? Intuition! As soon as we stop thinking, the intuitive part of our mind can open up. As long as we keep thinking, it can't. The intellect just loves thinking. Several of the following points are also part of the intellect's game.
2) Skepticism. In order to develop and use the intuition, you've got to embrace notions that our culture (the Western one) considers fanciful, dubious, ridiculous, or just plain stupid. Skepticism, one of the intellect's favorite patterns, holds new ideas at arms length, instead of embracing them. It's OK if you have some initial skepticism, but it has to be suspended long enough for you to access your intuition.
3) Cynicism. Cynicism has the negative effect of skepticism multiplied, killing intuition before it even gets started. It's Roundup to the intuition. Cynicism says "I know that won't work for me, and I know it won't work for you, and even if it did it wouldn't be worth anything." Our society seems to get more cynical by the day, producing a climate that's not at all conducive to developing one's intuition (or being happy, for that matter).
4) Preoccupation With Success/Failure. You may have heard that psychics often have a harder time working when they are being tested or challenged by people trying to debunk their abilities. That's because the part of our psyche that opens to receive intuitive input thrives in a relaxed state of being, and the stress of judgment and preoccupation with success/failure doesn't help anyone relax. When you're doing intuitive work, if you start wondering if you're "doing well", "being intuitive", or getting the "right information", you'll shut down the intuitive flow every time.
5) Fear of Feeling. Intuition is a feeling/sensing/inner-knowing process. Intuition begins with feelings, and being out of touch with your feelings can be a huge impediment to intuition. If you have a tendency to put off feeling about things, spend most of your time "in your head", or do various other things to avoid being engaged with your feeling self, perhaps it's time for a change. When you want to be more intuitive, feelings are your friend.
6) Do Do Do. Most of us, men especially, have been culturally trained to disregard anything that doesn't have to do with tangible accomplishment. This goes back a long way: "Why Og look tree? Tree can't kill lion. Og fool. Ha ha ha Og!" (Thus ridiculed, Og feel stupid.) Even if you come from a family of dreamers and mystics, and you yourself are an artist, musician or professional clown, unless you were raised in a fallout shelter you did not escape the cultural message that you should be focusing on what reliably brings home the bacon. If you're reading this, you've already either decided to ignore that message and do some inner exploration, or perhaps you believe the intuition will end up helping you be more productive. Either way fine.
7) Being Too Smart. "Smart" people have a tendency to want to know how, why, and whether something will work, before they will try it. (This is especially so if they have not yet seen a lot of other people doing something. On the other hand, if they have seen a lot of other people doing something, they will generally stand in line to do it!) If I think there is a reason something won't work, I won't try it because I might look like a fool. And I hate risking looking like a foolthat's just not something people should ever do. (See Og, above.) When doing intuitive work of any kind, you have to be willing to dive in and give it your best 100% effort. "Smart" people tend to hold back, and holding back for any reason will clamp down on your intuition. Fools rush in, and often make better intuitives.
8) Weak Imagination. As we've already pointed out, in order to tune into psychic input, higher guidance, spirit beings, angels, and what have you, you've got to reach beyond your intellect. But without your intellect how can you translate what you intuit into something understandable? You have to bridge the gap between the "seen" and the "unseen" world, and your imagination is that bridge. The looser and freer your ability to imagine, the more easily your higher guidance can communicate with you. If you think daydreaming is a big time waster; feel you should always keep a TIGHT FOCUS; believe you've got to THINK to solve problems; well, your intuition is always going to be just out of reach. If on the other hand you're comfortable dreaming, imagining, fantasizing, and generally making things upor you're willing to become comfortable doing soyou'll be able to do a lot with your intuition.
9) Self Doubt. Self-doubt is one thing everyone has to overcome in order to develop psychically. It tends to walk hand in hand with skepticism and cynicism, and usually takes the form of affirmations (negative ones) that go, "This won't work for me", "I can't do that", and "I'm no good at this". The part of your consciousness that needs to open up in order to be intuitive hears these affirmations, believes them, and closes down. Affirmations do work, even when we don't want them to! 10) Worry. Worry is one of the intellect's favorite ways to try and control things. It's a way of second-guessing everything you know in your gut, instead of trusting your intuition and letting things unfold naturally. Sometimes the most sensitive people are the ones who least trust themselves. Once these people gain self-confidence they can become the most intuitive of all.
SO IS IT WORTH IT?
With so many challenges working against you, is it even worth trying to become more intuitive? Absolutely! First off, there are the physical benefits:
You'll work more effectively with less effort. Whatever job you do, when you have your intuition engaged, the many small choices you make in the course of your work day will be better informed. You'll be able to accomplish more by better knowing when to do what, and knowing how to proceed.
You'll have a better handle on your big choices. Major decisions and road forks require more of you than a list of pros and cons on either side. You need to tap deep into yourself to know what's going to best fulfill you down the line. When you're in the habit of using your intuition, that's something that will come naturally.
You'll be able to better choose whom you spend time with, and get along with them more easily. Listening to your intuition about other peoplewhether they will ultimately support you or let you downcan make a big difference in choosing your friends and partners. And having an inner sense about what other people need from you comes in quite handy, to keep relationships going smoothly.
You'll become more creative, innovative, and inventive, no matter what your field, because utilizing your intuition will give a boost to your creativity.
You'll be able to solve problems that seem unsolvable, and accomplish things that seem out of reach to those who don't have your intuitive ability. But becoming more intuitive isn't just about gaining an edge on material success. Even more important is the difference that can occur within you.
Using your intuition means keeping the channels open within you, so you can get a continual feed of information about your own well-being. When you are capable of tuning in and experiencing your own feelings with accuracy on a deep level, you know yourself much more fully. That's one of the conditions that allow you to really blossom and grow as an individual.
Your intuition is your conscious connection to Spirit. Whatever your religious or spiritual orientation, your intuition can be a pathway to feeling, hearing, seeing and knowing your connection to God. When you are connected with your awareness, your spiritual practice can be all the more fulfilling and satisfying, all the more real. Intuition can give you the connection to spiritual input you deserve. So yes, it's definitely worth the effort to overcome the blocks and tendencies that limit your intuition. If you can reorganize yourself to dissolve, bypass, or fly over those impediments, you'll find it fairly easy to tap into your natural intuitive abilities. With practice, patience, and firm intention you will get comfortable with your intuition equipment, and become an expert at using it.
Psychics, Intuitives & Channels
YOU SAY TOMATO
A few years ago people began using the word "intuitive" as a noun to indicate someone with psychic abilities, as in, "I called my pet intuitive to get help finding my cat". It's still not in most dictionaries as a noun, but they'll catch up eventually. Why not just stick with "psychic"? Well, because psychics, to borrow an expression from Rodney Dangerfield, don't get no respect. A psychic is someone who wears a turban, looks into a crystal ball, and tells your fortune. An intuitive, well that's someone with an office, not a parlor! Psychics started calling themselves intuitives to lend a sense of dignity to their profession, and to separate the (hopefully) legitimate work they do from that of "fortune tellers". But I also know "psychics" who do highly professional work, have intelligent, conscious clients, and don't have any problem calling themselves psychics. One medical intuitive I know calls herself a psychic to avoid being accused of practicing medicine without a licen! se. As in any profession, there is a whole range of talent out there, title notwithstanding. It all comes down to whether a person can do the job. Here, the nouns "psychics" and "intuitives" are used interchangeably.
As adjectives, "psychic" and "intuitive" do each tend to mean something a little different. When we say someone is psychic, we usually mean they have special powers allowing them to have access to all sorts of information, see the future and the past, have visions and so on. When we say someone is intuitive, we usually just mean they listen to their inner guidance and have a knack for making good decisions and judgment calls.
YOUR INTUITION SPECIALTY
It's worth noting that intuitive people are most often intuitive about things they already know a lot about. For example, when he says, "My intuition tells me that the cat isn't where she's supposed to be," our intuitive cat owner has a good connection with his animal and knows the places it tends to hang out. If Tigger's a house cat, and gets out of the house, the owner might first notice that the cat isn't in the living room; but he may not have to look all over the house before he gets an intuitive hit that the cat is in the street, in danger of being run over or becoming dog food. On the other hand, that same person probably won't be getting intuitive hits about his neighbor's cat, because that's not a big part of his awareness. Carry this further, and consider that a medical doctor, faced with conflicting or unclear symptoms in a patient, might have an intuition about what's really wrong. One diagnosis may just seem to "call out to him", and his instincts will often pan out accurately. But if he were to get groceries on the way home from the hospital he might have no idea which melon to pick. To him they all just look like melons.
People are most often intuitive about things they already know a lot about.
A scientist might have a break-through insight, an artist might create a work that just seems to "come through" him, a police officer might have a gut feeling to not open a certain door without wearing Kevlar These are examples of the intuition at work, in a person's area of expertise. Everyone has these experiences at one time or another.
INTUITION AND CHANNELING
Channeling is closely related to intuitive development. For most practitioners there is at least some overlap between channeling and other intuitive work, and there is definitely overlap in the way we use the terms in common parlance. A psychic or intuitive is considered anyone who hears, sees, or feels energies and/or information that is undetectable by "normal" senses. A channel is considered a person who acts as a vessel through which a particular being expresses. A channel essentially allows an entity other than their own soul to speak, write or otherwise communicate through their body. The channel may be conscious during the channeling sessions, so that they are able to hear what is being said or written, or they may be unconscious. Edgar Cayce was a famous unconscious channel, and he only was able to hear his own channeling work by listening back to the tape recordings. Though not "channeling" in the strictest sense of the word, we often use the word "channeling" more loosely to describe the process of getting information psychically. What separates it from channeling, per se, is whether it involves receiving information from a particular entity:
If your auto mechanic receives information from Zor, Archangel of Auto Mechanics (I'm making that up), he could be said to be "channeling Zor".
If, on the other hand, your mechanic has never heard directly from Zor, but manages to intuitively diagnose your car problem, knows what caused it, and without prior knowledge knows where to get special parts to fix it, he might be said to be "channeling information" about your car.
WHO OR WHAT ARE YOU CHANNELING?
In the last 20 years, the number of people who channel has grown at an amazing rate. I expect that before long we'll see "Channels" as a new classification in the yellow pages! You can't look far into psychic awareness these days without bumping into someone who channels a "being from another dimension". Who are these beings? You never know. Could be a spiritual master who is no longer on-planet, could be a high spiritual teacher who was never on-planet, could be Jesus, or an archangel, or it might just be good old dead Uncle Bob. Like any information you get out in the world, you need to weigh anything that comes via a channel to see if it makes sense for you.
CONSIDER THE SOURCE (A PARABLE) - One day a man heard a voice talking to him in his head. This took him quite by surprise. He'd never heard voices like that before. The voice said, "Go to the race track". He ignored the voice. Again it said, "Go to the race track". He ignored the voice again, but it persisted. Finally, he went to the track. "Bet on Force of Habit to win in the third race," said the voice. The man, knowing the voice would persist, reluctantly bet on Force of Habit. The third race came around and the man watched and waited. Force of Habit was in the lead up until the very end, when another horse passed it to win. "Damn!" said the voice.
In general, if you happen to do channeling you will be aware of the personality of the being who is providing the information. And just as you'll have a sense about people out in the world, you'll have a sense about the intention and integrity of any being you might channel. If it feels creepy, you are probably channeling a creep, and you should stop. If it feels wonderful, uplifting, spiritual, and healing, you are probably on the right track. You do have authority over whomever you channel, so you can say something like, "If you are a high level Guide, please stay, and if not get lost". And just like holding up a cross to a vampire, they've got to go!
FOR MORE ON CHANNELING
One of the best instructional books you'll find on channeling is "Opening to Channel", by Sanaya Roman. One of the most famous is "Seth Speaks", by Jane Roberts. One of the most popular channels working today is Esther Hicks, who channels a group of well-evolved beings known as Abraham. Like the story says, if you go to a channel, take the information you get under advisement. In many ways it's no different than going to any other consultantsome aren't worth the money you pay, some tell you what you already know, and some are a great source of expert advice that's hard to come by. What's the best way to pick a channel? Use your intuition!
Your Identity & Becoming More Intuitive
STAYING VERTICAL
Your intuitive guidance system is available to assist you 24/7, and is constantly providing some level of input. The more aware you are of this input, the more intuitive you are. But how aware you are of this input is subject to how available you are to receive it. While you might say, "Bring it on! I'm 100% available as of this moment," that might not be such a good idea.
Changing core beliefs is potentially threatening to your identity, because you have built your life around the core. Were you to suddenly expand your awareness to the point where you were, for example, in totally direct, conscious communication with spirit beings such as your personal guide, it would change more than just the amount of information you have access to. It would create a significant shift in the balance of how you view yourself and your world, your beliefs about what is possible, and the amount and kinds of energy you run through your body and mind. That's just the internal part. It would probably also alter what you do in life, the people you hang around with, the way you use your time, and include the ripple effects of all of those changes. And that much change is seen as very threatening to the part of you that likes to keep things "normal".
You could imagine the part of yourself that likes to keep things normal as an inner gyroscope: It tells you which way is up. Your consciousness has a kind of balance, a homeostasis, that is defined first and foremost by your beliefs. Your beliefs go much deeper than what you might come up with if were to take out a pad and write down what you believe about money, to use one example. Your beliefs are composed of how you interpreted all the sensory impressions received since birth, all the behavior patterns you have formed, all the stuff, conscious and unconscious, that you use to define who you are, down to the smallest detail. And having a solid definition of who you are, no matter how accurate or inaccurate it may be, is of vital importance. Your definition of selfyour identityis one of your main tools for moving through the world and deciding what's true, what isn't, who to trust, and what to do next from moment to moment. Your identity will change over time, but if it s! tarts changing too quickly you may loose track of who you are, and that can be disorienting, painful and potentially devastating.
Your identity is built over your lifetime from the core outward; "core beliefs" are the ones learned early on. Core beliefs are deeper, more fundamental, and harder to change than the outer layer ones. Changing core beliefs is potentially threatening to your identity, because you have built your life around the core. Changing a core belief could be like changing the foundation of a house: hard to do without tearing away some of the house.
If you cultivate the ability to communicate with your guides gradually over time, your identity can adjust itself comfortably, as needed.
When you want to do something newlike hooking up communication with a personal guideyour belief that you can make that change, and it won't hurt you, will allow it to happen. Any conflicting beliefs you may hold, conscious or otherwise, will put the brakes on. One of your core beliefs, unless you were raised by a primitive tribe or nuns, is that things you can feel, see, hear, taste and touch are real. Anything else is make believe, especially if your inner parents wouldn't be able to experience the same thing and validate it. (By "inner parents" I mean the picture of your parents you formed while you were developing, and now carry around inside of you). So for most of us that rules out having a "normal" conversation with our personal guide.
Look at it this way, if you were to, in the course of a one month period:
Fall in love with someone your family wouldn't approve of
Marry that person
Move with them to Antarctica
..think of all the uproar that would produce in your routine, your circle of friends, your job, and so on. The effect of those changes would pale in comparison to the effect of suddenly and for the first time receiving direct, clear and unmistakable communication from a non-physical entity who seems to know you better than you know yourself, who is more wise and loving than anyone you have ever met, and who only you seem to be able to see/hear/feel.
Clearly hearing the voice of your personal guide, or any other non-physical entity, as if he/she were standing next to you talking, is a profound occurrence that touches you to the core, and while at your core, changes any attendant beliefs. Once it happens, and particularly if it happens with any regularity, you become a different person. And as cool as it may seem, it may be incredibly threatening to the safety of your identitythe gyroscope we talked about. All of the core beliefs you have in your foundation relative to what is and isn't possible would suddenly be in question, and if they are in question, all the other core beliefs might also be in question. Suddenly you're in the twilight zone, and the idea of visiting a mental institution starts to seem oddly comforting!
However, if you were to cultivate the ability to communicate with your guides gradually over time, you would also have the opportunity to integrate the experience into your set of beliefs, and your identity would adjust itself comfortably, as needed. That way, the change wouldn't tear your house down, you would sleep OK at night, and you wouldn't end up on the wrong end of a pill!
POWERING UP
Another issue in becoming psychic has to do with power; power to effect your life and the lives of other people. Power is great, unless it gets you into trouble, and from that angle, the more power you have, the more dangerous you can become to yourself and others. Part of you knows this, and on some level you have a limiter on how much power you allow yourself. Turning on your intuitive power can be a little like giving a child that super sprayer water rifle. You want him to have fun, but you don't want him pointing that thing at you or the pets. You'd probably want to give him a little water pistol first to see how he handles it. As you develop your intuition gradually, you have the opportunity to see how your personality handles the fact that you possibly know some things about other people you didn't know before, for example. Once you have the experience of that, and not acting like a fool about it, you might allow yourself to know a bit more.
INTEGRATION
The key is integration. You get a bit of new insight, get a glimpse of a new skill, develop a new belief, integrate it into what you already believe, make some adjustments, and then you're ready for more new insights. Pretty soon you've oriented yourself to a whole new set of possibilities. You're a different person than you were before, but you've had time to integrate the new part, and make a transition that allows for continuity.
You actually needn't worry about going too fast, because unless you start taking psychedelic drugs (don't), your identity won't let you open up your awareness so quickly it would be destructive. You have built-in resistance to fundamental change, in order to protect you. It protects you from too many internal changes, and also from too many external changes, which might make you unpopular or otherwise ruin whatever you have going.
All that protection can be cause for frustration if you want to be totally psychic right now. Because you do have a built in mechanism to keep you from changing too quickly, you may experience a kind of push/pull with your intuitive development. At first, every now and then you'll get a peek at another world, and then the knothole will close and you'll get nothing. That's your identity keeping you safe from too much change, too fast, too soon. It's giving you just enough insight to show you there's another reality, but not so much that you feel like you have to move there. At every point you'll have a chance to opt out. It will give you time to integrate what you saw, and then it will show you a little more. And at the beginning your insight may be faint enough for you to tell yourself you were only making it up, just to be on the safe side. That angel I just saw standing behind the checkout clerk, that was just a smudge on my glasses.
Your guides are also quite good at keeping you from going too far, too fast. They know you want to learn to use your intuition, and they are glad you will be getting to know them. But they are in no hurry. In fact, they live in a place where there is no time, so it's a non-issue for them. They also know that you live in a place where there is time, and they know the timetable you set up for this life. You are right on target, as far as your intuitive progression is concerned, because your guides are on the job. Be patient, be present, and enjoy each small step in your progress. Impatience slows you down. Being present speeds things up!
Intuition happens in the present, most often when you are settled, connected inside and undisturbed by pressure or self-imposed criteria about how it's supposed to occur. To help move things along, put in regular time focusing inward and integrating what you find there.
Optimizing Your Intuition Potential
SPIRIT + EARTH = BALANCE
No matter how dedicated you are to learning and practicing, it's going to take some time to develop your intuition. However, there are a few things you can do to optimize your conditions to insure that you get the most from the time you put in. One of the most important things you can do is learn about balancing your energy.
To be your intuitive best, a balanced flow of Earth energy and Spirit energy will serve you well.
Some people seem naturally inclined toward spiritual things, and some toward more earthly pursuits. You might expect that those who are slanted far toward the spiritual are most likely to be intuitive. To some extent that can be true. But such folks can be intuitive in a way that is relatively unhelpful. They may be able to tell you about the climate on Neptune, for example, but won't be able to intuit how they'll pay the rent this month. We sometimes say these gentle people are "ungrounded". Intuition comes from your body as well as the higher part of your mind. As in ice skating, surfing, and most things in life, balance is the key. You are Spirit, embodied in a human form; a combination of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual components in one amazing package. As a human being, you need all of your components working in balance to operate at optimum level, the state in which your intuition thrives. Think of your life forcethe energy that sustains youas a mixture: The energy of Spirit comes to you by way of your crown chakrathe energy center at the top of your head.
The energy of Earth comes to you by way of the bottom of your feet and your first, or root chakrathe energy center at the base of your spine.
These two energies feed and inform you, sustaining your life. To be your intuitive best, a balanced flow of both Earth energy and Spirit energy will serve you well.
There are many different grounding exercises out there. Some involve visualizing energy going from the center of the earth through your spine, some have you visualize a cord or tube of light. There is no absolute "right way" to do a grounding process, so once you get comfortable with the basic concepts, feel free to experiment, try visualizing different ways of connecting to the earth, and discover what works best for you.
There will be times when you'll want to tap into the experience quickly, going as directly as possible to the sense of feeling grounded and connected. By practicing the whole process over time and becoming familiar with the feeling of these energies you'll learn how to quickly tap in when you need to.
You may also want to take time to expand and explore this process more deeply, bringing energy through all of your chakras, getting in touch with each energy center as you go. The chakra system offers a rich field for inner exploration, healing, and spiritual growth, and although more on this subject is outside the scope of our program, you might find it of value to study some of the many books and recordings available on the chakras.
WHAT DO GREAT PSYCHICS EAT?
One of the most famous psychics on the lecture circuit tells all of her students that they should stop eating meat if they want to become more intuitive. What she is saying is absolutely 100% true for her. The same advice is definitely not true for me, and it may or may not be true for you. Not everyone's digestive system is set up to function well on nuts and berriessome of us need animal protein to stay healthy. If you can operate well as a vegetarian, you are fortunate. Grains and vegetables are cheaper than meat, kinder to obtain, and far easier on our ecosystem to produce. Personally, I say "Thank God for the vegetarians", and "Let me eat my steak in peace!"
Don't get talked into treating yourself the way someone else's mind thinks your body should work!
Seriously, it's fine to experiment with different diets, but don't get talked into treating yourself the way someone else's mind thinks your body should work. Get the best nutritional advice you can, and let your own body and the way you feel be the final authority. Use your intuition!
In generaland no big surprise hereif you're working on building your intuition it's best to avoid excessive caffeine, sugar, alcohol or drugs. All of these will tend to take you out of your body, and make you less centered and grounded, and as we've said earlier, that will tend to slow down your progress.
HOW MANY PSYCHICS DOES IT TAKE TO USE A TREADMILL?
I can think of any number of psychics, intuitives, and spiritual masters who are overweight and seldom exercise. These are often people who are extremely gifted psychically, and have always been that way. They live in a world of the higher mind and spirit, and either never learned or just don't care about taking good care of their body. Perhaps it's the way they were meant to be, but I also believe it's life out of balance. Exercise helps keep your physical energy vibrant, and does wonders for your mind and emotions. Balanced, vibrant physical energy, calm emotions and a quiet mind all support your intuition. Without a basis in health, developing your intuitive ability is just harder to do.
Some of the processes I suggest in this program can be practiced when you are jogging, swimming, or otherwise working out. I've had some very productive intuitive sessions on a treadmill in the middle of a crowded gym. You're in a focused relationship with your body, generating lots of physical energy, and oxygenating your blood; a situation in which you are setting up a huge surge of energy you can put to direct use in your inner work. As you do your intuitive exercise, the rest of the room fades from your awareness. It's also good practice for strengthening your ability to focus, something that will help big time when you're seeking information intuitively, later on in this program.
Vigorous physical exercise on a regular basis can also help keep you centered and grounded, as can yoga, Qi Gong, Tai Chi or other martial arts, particularly if you do them with that as your conscious intention.
Listen to your body about things like food, rest and exercise.
Listen to your body about things like food, rest and exercise. That will spill over into getting input from your body about other thingswhat jobs to take, what people to avoid, the timing of things. You will begin to "know what feels right". The more you do this, the more you will begin to trust your intuition, and the more you will be able to rely on it. That's what great intuitives and psychics do.
MAKING YOUR ENVIRONMENT SUIT YOUR GROWTH
In doing the processes in this program you will become accustomed to settling your mind and emotions, altering your consciousness to a state of more subtle perception, gathering information, sometimes making emotional/mental/spiritual shifts within yourself, and then returning to your more normal state of awareness. As you spend more time exploring subtle levels of awareness, your normal state of awareness will begin to reflect your experiences in the exercises.
In other words, by doing the work of going deeply into your intuition you'll gradually become more intuitive in general. Practice is the key.
The right setting can help you shift your focus for doing intuitive work. We can't always control our outer circumstances, but to the extent you can, you might consider the following suggestions. These may seem obvious to some, but are still important to mention:
Keep your workspace neat. You will tend to identify your inner consciousness with what you see around you. An orderly, clean space will help your mind function better, and it will help attract energies that support you to lift higher and experience more.
Include objects and artwork in your environment that inspire you. You don't have to live in a museum, but you can include something beautiful in your space that symbolically speaks to you about who you are and where you're going. Even a seashell can be inspiring. This will help establish a supportive mood for your work.
Plants are very helpful in bringing up the energy in your work area, and they are closely associated with the angelic kingdom. Be sure to take care of your plants. Nice, healthy plants in your room will send your subconscious a positive message about life and growth.
Keep the air clear in your space. Don't smoke where you'll be doing intuitive work. If you use incense or smudge sticks open a window and clear the air on a regular basis.
Light a candle when you work, even if it's just a small votive candle. Fire has been used in spiritual ritual since the beginning of time, and doing so speaks to your subconscious in a way that can support your intuition. When developing your intuition, part of what you are learning is to become sensitive to the world around you. Making your environment pleasing and inviting will encourage you to become more sensitive to it.
