When dealing with other people today you might feel that you can get more done if you are cooperative. Being accommodating to other's needs and being able to compromise could make it easier for you to gain a win-win understanding. By knowing what you feel before you negotiate with others--that is, what you are willing to concede as well as what is important to you--you may find it easier to come to a mutual agreement that meets that needs of everyone. While it is important to be able to meet other's needs, it is equally essential to keep in mind that your own desires are also worthwhile and should be taken into consideration. If you can remember that cooperation is a two-way street, you may realize that meeting halfway provides the most reasonable and even inspired ideas.
Learning to work with the people in your life means finding a middle path that is best suited for everyone. Sometimes it is easy for us to go to one extreme or the nex'teither holding onto our ideas so strongly that we refuse to give in or giving up the things that are most important to us just to maintain a sense of harmony. Real cooperation, however, is a process in which we first understand what we want, listen to what others desire, communicate our mutual needs to each other, and see where they overlap. By understanding the full picture today, you will create balanced and equitable decisions that work well for everyone.
