Cancer Horoscope: The Power Of Imagination

The Power Of Imagination

December 31, 2018

Your creativity can help you bring cheer to the lives of the people you care about today. An imaginative mood coupled with a boundless enthusiasm for life itself may be your most useful tool in your ongoing battle against boredom. You may find yourself using your natural ingenuity and resourcefulness in clever ways whenever you encounter a situation in which someone close to you is wearing a frown or coping with feelings of dejection. However, this lightheartedness can also serve you well in other areas of your life today, so be on the lookout for opportunities to innovate as you tackle the duties assigned to you in your personal and professional spheres.

Our imaginative minds can do more than transport us to another time or place. Creative thought finds its root in the imagination, which means that we are drawing upon the power to pretend every time we envision something different or unique. Making use of this fact is as simple as allowing ourselves to innovate whenever the mood strikes us, whether we are struggling to solve a complex problem or entertaining the people we care about. Our ability to make life interesting is directly related to our willingness to tap into our imagination, as it is the pictures we see in the mind's eye that provide us with the raw materials we need to manifest our originality in the literal spheres of our existence. The creativity with which you think and act today will help you entertain your friends and family easily.

A Year to Clear What is Holding You Back!

by Stephanie Bennett Vogt

With all our best intentions and rich resources, why is it so hard to slow down, simplify, and care for ourselves? Why do most clearing efforts fall short or peter out? Why are we so afraid to let go?Our drive to attain and succeed comes at a great cost to the soul. We are malnourished, if not starved, when it comes to compassionate self-acceptance, awareness, and care. We yearn for simplicity but struggle to find it. We ache for balance but can't sustain it. There is no time to juggle it all, let alone clear the things and thoughts that have caused us to feel so overwhelmed in the first place. Most traditional approaches do not make room for us to feel the feelings that come up when we clear, and they make us feel bad when we fall short. These linear modalities do not account for our fight-or-flight response, nor recognize the energetic impact that our thoughts and emotions can have on our living spaces. After years of study, deep inquiry, and personal experience, here's what I know for sure: For clearing to last you need to put yourself first. You won't make a dent in reducing the stress and stuff until you've healed the patterns that created it. If you don't feel safe, you won't let go. Clearing is an inside job that begins and ends with you.

New Year, Fresh Start

New Year, Fresh Start

by Madisyn Taylor

Set the intention to continually work on your wellness: body, mind, and spirit.

Dear Friends,

Thank you for another wonderful year together. It is my sincere honor to bring you inspiring and life-changing content each day. Thank you for your beautiful emails, notes, and comments. I appreciate them so very much.

As we all do this time of year, I reflect on what has been and look to the future for what comes next. Personally, I do not make New Year's resolutions, but I do set the intention to continually work on my wellness: body, mind, and spirit. I have a desire to go as deep as I can in my healing process to help not only myself but my family and the world as a whole. I know many of you feel the same.

We have selected five of our online courses that we feel would be beneficial to you now and throughout the year if you are interested.

A Year to Clear What's Holding You Back! by Stephanie Bennett Vogt. Over 135,000 people have taken this course so far! Stephanie delivers her slow-drip method for learning to let go over 365 days. The lessons are simple and not overwhelming at all, giving you time to digest what you are learning. Learn the five Ss of her program: slow down, simplify, sense, surrender, and self-care. Learn More

The Best Year of Your Life by Debbie Ford. This course is delivered once a week for a year and is written by the late great--and our dear friend--Debbie Ford. What a powerhouse Debbie was when she walked the Earth, and her work continues to be popular because it works. A few of the life-changing topics covered are learning to intercept self-sabotage, nurturing the child within, learning the gift of your shadow self, and becoming the person you want to be. Learn More

A Year to Get Rich with Purpose by Edward Vilga. This is another 365-day course that begins when you sign up; it's not based on a calendar year. Learn to redefine and reinvent your money "story" and reconnect with your purpose. Edward lives and breathes finances, so you will be in good hands with him. Learn More

End Self-Sabotage with Meridian Tapping by Ellen Richter. In this 10-lesson course you will learn to perform EFT (emotional freedom technique, which is tapping on particular meridian points of your body). Ellen will guide you through a process to re-create your inner world and bust through subconscious blocks to success. You will also dissolve negative energy stored in your body, learn the law of attraction, and work to heal body-image issues. Learn More

How to Communicate Like a Buddhist by Cynthia Kane. This is another popular course, with almost 30,000 people learning to speak clearly and without anxiety. Over eight weeks you will also learn to respond rather than react, stay engaged when listening, and speak in a way that is kind, honest, and true. The part that I particularly love is learning to be comfortable with silence without needing to fill the space. Learn More

I hope one of these courses piques your interest. We try to offer something for everybody. Until next year I offer you my warm wishes. Be sure to check your inbox again tomorrow, January 1st, for another special message and an announcement!

Be well,

Cancer Horoscope: Understanding The Past

Understanding The Past

December 30, 2018

You could find it easier to reflect today on your role in your family's dynamics, and this may compel you to accept more responsibility for past actions. Even though the things that have happened might not be your sole responsibility, this might be a good time to think about the effect of your reactions to the past. Perhaps today you can contemplate the ways you responded and whether or not your actions were healthy. To do so, you could think back to an incident that impacted you. Try looking at this event as if you were an impartial observer. Through the realizations you gain from this perspective, you may see that the things that happened were either not as important as you thought or were the result of a combination of factors. This mind-set may help you gain greater empathy for everyone involved, including yourself.

Observing our past though the lens of an outsider gives us an alternate viewpoint on our experiences. When we think about an event, the mental scenes we create are usually colored by our feelings and judgments. Seeing the event from the outside, however, allows us to view it as if it were a play. We begin to realize that everyone had a part and was simply operating on their internal script. We, in turn, see that we were doing the same and understand more deeply our own responsibility in the matter. By reflecting upon your past objectively today, you will learn to recognize your own patterns and how they affect your present actions.

Reframing Your Narrative About Challenging Relationships

by Kim Schneiderman, LCSW

Have you ever noticed that the same type of person keeps showing up in your life and pushing all of your buttons? Why do these individuals and situations keep appearing in the storyline of your life? Is it just to senselessly aggravate you? If you answered "yes," you may feel like a victim, and that probably doesn't feel very good. When we feel like a victim, we feel a heavy sense of powerless that, if gone unchecked, can lead to depression, health issues, and low self-esteem. But what if there was another way to look at challenging people and situations that left you feeling empowered, and perhaps even a little inspired? The good news is that you can reframe such tensions as opportunities to open your heart, expand your awareness, strengthen your emotional muscles, take constructive action, and deepen your appreciation for the mystery of life. In this 10-week course, Kim Schneiderman, LCSW, author of "Step Out of Your Story: Writing Exercises to Reframe and Transform Your Life," presents a series of research-based writing exercises that can help you reframe adversity as a "character development workout," a custom-made, emotional journey designed to help you build strengths while further honing areas within yourself that haven't been fully developed. Using perspective-bending writing exercises, you will tap into the voice of your omniscient narrator to find an elevated, compassionate perspective on your emotionally-charged storyline. This and other writing techniques, some cued with guided meditation, will help you transform self-defeating stories into soul narratives, leaving you feeling inspired and empowered regardless of circumstances.

Judging Others

Judging Others

by Madisyn Taylor

To acknowledge that we have judged and why, is the first step to a path of compassion.

Though it is human to evaluate people we encounter based on first impressions, the conclusions we come to are seldom unaffected by our own fears and our own preconceptions. Additionally, our judgments are frequently incomplete. For example, wealth can seem like proof that an individual is spoiled, and poverty can be seen as a signifier of laziness--neither of which may be true. At the heart of the tendency to categorize and criticize, we often find insecurity. Overcoming our need to set ourselves apart from what we fear is a matter of understanding the root of judgment and then reaffirming our commitment to tolerance.

When we catch ourselves thinking or behaving judgmentally, we should ask ourselves where these judgments come from. Traits we hope we do not possess can instigate our criticism when we see them in others because passing judgment distances us from those traits. Once we regain our center, we can reinforce our open-mindedness by putting our feelings into words. To acknowledge to ourselves that we have judged, and that we have identified the root of our judgments, is the first step to a path of compassion. Recognizing that we limit our awareness by assessing others critically can make moving past our initial impressions much easier. Judgments seldom leave room for alternate possibilities.

Mother Teresa said, "If you judge people, you don't have time to love them." If we are quick to pass judgment on others, we forget that they, like us, are human beings. As we seldom know what roads people have traveled before a shared encounter or why they have come into our lives, we should always give those we meet the gift of an open heart. Doing so allows us to replace fear-based criticism with appreciation because we can then focus wholeheartedly on the spark of good that burns in all human souls.
