The study of hado tells us that the energetic vibrations from our thoughts affect our physical realities.


Walking through a Japanese garden, one truly feels the life force energy that is known as Hado. Hado isn't just present in Japan, but it is a concept that has existed in Japan for centuries. The two Japanese characters that make up the word Hado mean "wave" and "move" - perfect words to describe the energy vibrations that permeate all life. Hado is present in all things, animate and inanimate. It resides everywhere, even in the air and in people.

The study of hado tells us that the energetic vibrations from our thoughts affect on our physical realities. Each of us has the ability to manifest a specific intention through the hado that we send out – from making our jewelry shine to changing the atmosphere of a room full of people to transforming the hado of an empty space. However, we are often unaware that our thoughts are creating vibrations in the world outside our minds. Once we know that this is the case, we can become more aware of our negative thinking and train ourselves to stay positive and think with intention.

Giving thanks for a meal before we eat can change the energy of our food. Expressing gratitude by thoughts or words makes a huge difference to both the giver and recipient because you are sending them hado. A kind smile really makes a difference when you work consciously with hado. Once we become aware of the power of hado, we can create positive changes in every area of our lives: our physical space, mental and emotional health, relationships, and businesses. One of the most important principles of hado is to monitor your thoughts and intentions every day. Enjoy the improvements that you will create in your life and the world around you by consciously working with hado.

    Unwavering feelings of confidence can do much to help you accomplish your goals today. Even if you feel that your talents and skills are not equal to the challenges you face, your willingness to continue striving unwaveringly for success can provide you with the strength you need to move forward. A persistent attitude will no doubt serve you well when the specter of failure looms, ensuring that you do not entertain ideas of giving up. You may feel more comfortable challenging yourself than usual today because you see success as an inevitability instead of one possibility among many. The stronger your positive impression of what is to come, the more potent your determination will grow.

Those who believe that they must rally against the forces of disappointment in order to attain success are easily dismayed because they hail each eventuality as equally probable. There is every reason to believe that with time and determination, we will realize those dreams that are most important to us. Your persistence will be unwavering today when you are unwilling to let pessimistic thoughts get in the way of your commitment to your goals.

    Meditation for the Highly Sensitive Person

    Sensitive people are in general drawn to meditation as so often we find ourselves adrift, at the mercy of a world that seems unconscious of its own shrill bombast. For us highly sensitive people it's hard to enjoy things like loud parties or rock shows; even going to the grocery store with its glaring overhead neon can be too much. People telling us to "get over it" just don't understand.

    DailyOM co-founder Madisyn Taylor, on the other hand, does. A gifted voice in the field of meditation guidance, here she knows just what sensitive people need to hear. With her calm, hypnotic, measured voice she helps us create a cocoon of light from our heart center, and a basket outside ourselves for our sensitivities to soften up in. Finally, she invites us to levitate over a meadow, feeling completely supported as a beguiling cascade of soft music provide a lulling experience without putting us to sleep (making it ideal for lunch breaks at work if you can close your office door or find a quiet corner).

    Before bringing us safely back to earth guides us through some affirmations with space for our vocal or thoughtful repetition. Personally, for me the most relevant is "leaving the house is a joy and a pleasure"; "I allow noises and sounds to flow right through me" and "I am safe in crowds, as I am connected to mother earth." If you can relate to needing to hear any of those affirmations, you are in the right place and Madisyn Taylor is the right guide. This very invigorating and centering half hour us with a clearer picture of our sensitivity, and the skills to sidestep our old panic pitfalls when facing challenges like crowded malls, concerts, business meetings, and first dates. We can return to a place of comfort and safety not by running home to our bedroom sanctuary at the first sign of stimuli overload, but simply re-connecting to Mother Earth with a few deep breaths, sheathing ourselves in that heart chakra light, and joining in the joyful chaos that is daily life. As ! long as our feet are on the ground, we're safe at home.
