Your awareness of your surroundings may cause you to be more attentive today. Even though there are instances when you need to be on your guard, perhaps this would be a good time to use your sense of alertness to become more attuned to your life and the environment in which you live. Doing a simple listening meditation, for example, might be one way to help you discover the world that exists around you. During set times during the day, you can simply listen to the sounds you hear without naming, judging, or evaluating them. Letting the world enter you through your senses, with listening in particular, could bring a deeper level of wakefulness into your life today and might instill in you a greater understanding of your relationship with the world as a whole.

Our senses are wonderful tools to use to become more mindful for the primary way in which we interact with the world is through our bodies. While it is easy to focus on our bodies, it is much more difficult to merely allow ourselves to be and exist in the world. Doing listening meditation, yoga, or some other form of body-awareness exercises allows us to relate to the world on a much more visceral level; we are able to feel and experience things more tangibly, seeing how much richness exists in just a simple sound or action. Using your body to connect to the world will bring a more profound sense of alertness and consciousness to your life today.
