A closer look at writing and creativity from Madisyn Taylor
The powerhouse force waiting to be tapped

As humans we are meant to create and bring forth ideas into action.


Dear Friends,

Some of you may continue to be deeply steeped in winter weather while those of us on the West Coast are enjoying warmer days with chilly mornings. I always feel most creative when it is a little chilly outside. I can light some candles or a fire and hunker down with some writing or another creative endeavor.

This month we will be focusing on writing and creativity. I always encourage my clients to indulge their creativity, even if they have labeled themselves as "not a creative person" Many of us were told we can't sing, draw, paint, or write well enough at some point in our lives and it stuck. Maybe you put this label on yourself at some point. As human beings we are meant to create! At the highest level, we create how we live our lives each day, and within that day we can chose to have creative time to make something tangible. Our creativity is governed by our second chakra (the lower belly area), and it is a powerhouse force within all of us just waiting to be tapped. Whether you are making sand castles at the beach, writing poetry, painting, knitting, or building a house, we all have the potential to be creative.

During the four Mondays in March, the DailyOM story will be about some form of creativity. I would love for all of you to revisit creativity in your life and take the time to notice if it is lacking or if you want to try something new. Take some time to journal about your feelings on being a creative person and see what comes up for you. Below, I have highlighted several courses available to help open your soul to its creative self.

Way of Story Writing by Catherine Ann Jones. This is a 16-week online course for all levels of writers that will teach you how to develop a story and includes all forms such as plays, screenplays, novels, and stories. Catherine is great at helping you find your own voice.

Overcoming Creative Anxiety by Eric Maisel. In this eight-week course you will learn how to start and complete projects without experiencing that disabling anxiety we can all feel. Learn how to keep your creativity flowing and not get bogged down.

Discover your Creative Compass by Sierra Prasada and Dan Millman. This eight-week course is presented by father and daughter duo Dan and Sierra. It matters what stories you tell and how you tell them, and they should be a source of bliss. Find out how to navigate your inner creative compass.

Heal Yourself with Writing by Catherine Ann Jones. This is an eight-week course designed to offer a step-by-step journey of discovery. Heal your pain so that it becomes meaningful and actually promotes growth and transformation rather than ruling your life.

Many of the courses above focus on writing, but you do not need to be a "writer" so put that aside. You may find that by taking a writing course you will reveal other hidden creative talents! I wish you well on your creative endeavors this month.
