Music to Calm Your Canine Companion (CD) - Psycho-acoustic researcher Joshua Leeds has worked extensively in the study of how music affects the human nervous system. He teams here with dog lover and master pianist Lisa Spector, who saw a connection when she noticed the way stressed puppies would fall asleep on her Steinway piano when she played certain songs. Leeds and Spector came together over this album when a study in Britain also confirmed that dogs were relaxed by classical and slow-tempo music. The pieces here consist entirely of unaccompanied piano, which gradually slow down in tempo, unfolding and working to entrain and relax a stressed dog's ears.
